Jeep Wrangler TJ

It is a terrible car, but I still love it.

Jeeps are perhaps one of the most iconic vehicles of our time. From the YJ series in Jurassic Park to the CJ series littered across the beaches world wide. So after my trusty e30 got hit multiple times in one year, I decided it is time for a change.

It came with this hardtop, which is missing the back glass. i promptly sold it to someone and got a soft top that is removable. It was running on 32s with a 3 inch suspension lift.

That winter in 2015, I got rear ended on the freeway between the merge of 270 to 495. The wonderful thing about 4 wheel drive with block tires is that, while I can stop and drive on any condition, the rest of the people on the road have cars that are much less capable. The pile up was so bad, I drove away without getting the info from the other person. I was not trying to get out of the car and get hit by other out of control vehicles. The insurance fixed it, and I bought new bumpers, because… upgrading is what you do when you get into an accident.

I got new tires, front and rear bumper with swing gate, wider fender, and bed rug. This is when I realize how badly engineer American cars are, and how badly manufactured the aftermarket parts are as well. Bolt “line up” but you have to do some work to make it fit. The coating on them are done poorly and started flaking after a year.

I end up getting this hood louvers from poison spider, why? because it looked cool. It was one of the mods, I find to be most aesthetically appealing and totally useless.

Of course you can not have too much of a good thing. I parked in front of target one day, and someone stole my KC lights from my bumper, and my radiator cracked prompted me to buy an all aluminum radiator.

Getting a used vehicle is always a shock to see how badly people, who have no business doing anything electrical work, do shoddy electrical work. I installed a class Bluetooth headunit from Retrosound.

It was fun while it lasted

After 4 years of serving me well, with little to no issues, it developed cancer. The frame was not really salvageable, or at least not cost effective for me. I sold it before I left my RTW trip.

A few things I already remember about my Wrangler,

1.) It was super easy to fix, and parts are everywhere cause its domestic and after market has so many options.

2.) It was a terrible handling car and was gutless and gas guzzling, and it was noisy af.

3.) I love driving it with the doors off.
