June 2018 (21st - 30th)
Day 1 - June 21 - stayed at a hotel at White Marsh, MD. Compliment of a good friend of mine's farewell present. I had a really slow start of the day so it was a very good stop
Day 2 - June 22 - My host rode a KLR650. They made dinner for me when I arrived, and made beef jerky for me to take on the road. Slept on my own air mattress.
Day 3 - June 23 - David surfed with me when he came to College Park, so naturally I stayed with him when I visited Boston. He gave me a small jar of honey when I left.
Day 4 - June 24 - First night camping, inexperience earn me 18 mosquito bites and questioned my resolve to keep going. Alas that thought only lasted 5 seconds.
Day 5 - June 25 - Met Trevor and his girlfriend. They were very accommodating, and my room was amazing. I was able to dry out my tent and refilled my water supplies
Day 6 - June 26 - 2nd night at camp, only got 3 mosquito bites this time. Open food was left away from camp, and woke to find it ripped up and dragged into the woods.
Day 7 - June 27 - Met up with Jeff and stayed with his cousin for the night. Got rain on the whole way there, it was a premonition to come.
Day 8 - June 28 - Got chased out of a trailer park by two shirtless guys from the first surfer. Contacted Trish last minute, she totally hooked me up at 9:30 PM at night.
Day 9 - June 29 - Stayed at a paid campsite because Jeff didn't feel comfortable camping in the wild. The swarm of mosquitoes arrived just when the sunset came at 9 PM
Day 10 - June 30 - Paid for a motel, cause the rain took us by surprise and we were soaked from head to toe. My GPS was acting up after the rain.
July 2018
Day 11 - July 1 - Rained on again, rode into birth place of Winnie the Poo. Emergency camping at a boat launch. Surprising amount of traffic overnight.
Day 12 - July 2 - Richard took me around Thunder Bay. He is a journalist/photographer. Very knowledgeable of the area. Taught me some basic photography.
Day 13 - July 3 - Stayed with Louis and his gf. We had a bbq and some cold drinks. They are native Canadians. Very friendly and trusting.
Day 14 - July 4 - James was recommended by my couch surfer in Saskatoon. First night, his gf made dinner. First oil change interval reached
Day 15 - July 5 - Stayed another day with James, got oil in the morning and a cooking tray for catch can. James took me riding around the city later that afternoon.
Day 16 - July 6 - Did 600 miles to get to Saskatoon to meet Dr. Whitlow. With the help of timezone change I arrived at 10:30. Who waited for me with dinner.
Day 17 - July 7 - Hung out by the docks and worked on some writing and data keeping, nice and relaxing day. Many games of chess and good conversations.
Day 18 - July 8 - Helped out with gardening work, and cooked dinner for my host. Couple more games of chess, and did laundry.
Day 19 - July 9 - 2 hours bicycle ride turn into 4 hours. "You are a terrible date","but you are not a date". Some very hilarious and awkward moments.
Day 20 - July 10 - Cynthia and friend's house was enormous. They cook me a bison burger on the first day and I got to relax and wash up.
Day 21 - July 11 - Was convinced to stay one more day, I took the day to finish my first blog post and did laundry to get ready to go north to wilderness.
Day 22 - July 12 - Found a good campsite in fort nelson. Pulled it rather late around 8 pm was surprise to find couple spots open. No shower.
Day 23 - July 13 - After passing a buffalo herd, and at 9 pm. It started to rain, I pulled off to a small path down the side of the road and made camp. Sketchy.
Day 24 - July 14 - 2 miles off the main road, middle of no where. Best campsite with mountain view. Mountain wind, zero bugs. 3rd day without shower.
Day 25 - July 15 - Philip has a dry cabin and an outhouse. Thought I was going to have wifi and shower, thought wrong. 4th day without shower.
Day 26 - July 16 - Decided on a whim to head to deadhorse the same day with Daniel. Camp out just pass Yukon Rivercamp. 24/7 running spring water
Day 27 - July 17 - 7 am start, back the same day with Nate, whom I met right before Atigun Pass. Pulled into campsite just before Coldfoot, 4 am. 21 hour ride.
Day 28 - July 18 - Stayed with Jon, who helped me straighten out my bike after my little spill. Another dry cabin. 7th day without shower
Day 29 - July 19 - Got my bike completed fixed in less than 24 hours since returning to town. But it was too late for me to ride out, Phillip put me up another day.
Day 30 - July 20 - Met Lee again on the Denali Highway, we helped a old couple with their spare tire and made camp. 9th day without shower.
Day 31 - July 21 - Visited Valdez and its glaciers and the salmon hatchery. Did not think it had shower until next morning before we left. After 10 days, I showered.
Day 32 - July 22 - Eagle Claw Motorcycle Campground is the best campground ever. They even cooked for us, and we met up with many like minded moto travelers
Day 33 - July 23 - Lee wanted to camp at a RV park due to legitimate concern of bears. So he treated me to the campsite. It was a good place and I cook dinner.
Day 34 - July 24 - Stayed with Lee's friend in White Horse for a day. He took us out, we bought Sushi for him. My tire is looking pretty bald.
Day 35 - July 25 - On the way down the Cassiar highway, took this campsite. Met some bicycle riders, but nothing exciting. Pretty vanilla day, but good scenery ride.
Day 36 - July 26 - Camp out by Dease Lake, the site Lee wanted behind the university was already taken by bicyclist. We ended up Lions Tanzilla River Campground
Day 37 - July 27 - Lee came down with a stomach flu, he took a hotel in Smithers, I found a campsite right on the base of a glacier. It was nice and cool.
Day 38 - July 28 - Kelly drove me around town looking for a tire, visited every single dealership. He is amazing, he knew exactly what a moto traveler needs.
Day 39 - July 29 - Got a Mitas e09 finally got my tire swapped. Did my service and used Diesel engine oil for oil change. Took Kelly out for dinner.
Day 40 - July 30 - Dodged a thunderstorm at the Columbia Glacier, and exited the smoked filled Banff to wild camp in the middle of no where.
Day 41 - July 31 - Last stop before USA. Stayed at Christian. They are super accommodating and I got all my stuff dried out and ready to go the next morning.
August
Day 42 - August 1 - Met up with Josh and stayed with former travel students. It was a very nice reunion. I bought them lunch cause after all I am the senior.
Day 43 - August 2 - Got in late, 30 mph crosswind, 40 mph gust. Had many brown moments. Every 15 minutes, I had to pull over to calm myself.
Day 44 - August 3 - Did my own stuff in the morning, laundry and write up some stuff, and hung out with Ben and his friends. Went to 8 bit arcade for the night.
Day 45 - August 4 - Met up with Sid and his wife at a car show. Later on me and Ben drove to Leavenworth and spend the day there.
Day 46 - August 5 - Got to Lee's place pretty early, we got the bike up on the lift, and I looked over all the parts I shipped over there. I treat him to dinner and called it a night
Day 47 - August 6 - Did all my maintenance, new chain, new sprockets, everything went on. Lee's shop was massive, and he had everything I needed. I owe him one.
Day 48 - August 7 - Took a test ride with Lee, through the mountain loop. It was a lot longer and rougher than I bargained for, but everything checked out.
Day 49 - August 8 - Could not make it to Sid's after meeting up with my Dad's old coworker. I spend the day in the library, and went to Ben's again. We had Sonic for dinner.
Day 50 - August 9 - Met a couple on a bmw airhead that wouldn't start. I try to help, but didn't get it started, they ended up helping me instead, when I couldn't find camp.
Day 51 - August 10 - Rode into the OHV site without a permit. Super deep sand, I'm surprise I didn't dump the bike. The mosquitoes were quite fierce.
Day 52 - August 11 - After spending too much time in the Redwood, I had to find a camp fast. This was down a very steep entrance, found it on ioverlander.
Day 53 - August 12 - Got to my cousins just outside of San Fran. Met her husband for the first time, she took me out to get noodles since I came in super late
Day 54 - August 13 - Planned my routes and called my other aunts and cousins letting them know when I will come by. Went out to eat even more.
Day 55 - August 14 - Went and visited another student of mine near Fresno, and then got to Visalia to stay with my Aunt. Got there late and called it a night.
Day 56 - August 15 - Rode into Sequoia and Kings Canyon, worst tourist trap ever. I found some Jeep and OHV trails in Kings Canyon at days end, so it wasnt a total loss.
Day 57 - August 16 - Did some catching up on my record keeping, and then went to see "Crazy Rich Asians" with my Aunt. It was actually very good.
Day 58 - August 17 - Got to T.M.s place and got set up and looked at some of my packages that have arrived. He bought me a new windshield.
Day 59 - August 18 - Hung out with T.M. and installed the windshield and the rebuilt GPR. Slow day, updated some of my tracks. Head to Red's place and he hooked us up.
Day 60 - August 19 - Went to visit my cousin and Aunt in Culver City. They took me to get dim sums and I visited my cousin's robotic's start up.
Day 61 - August 20 - T.M. went with me to the Reward Mine. Between abandon airport, and the really rough road up to the entrance, it was epic in all aspect.
Day 62 - August 21 - Took the day doing my tires, and replace the rubber chain guard on the swing arm. Red bbq for us.
Day 63 - August 22 - One last day hanging with T.M., his roommate Red made me new stickers to update my damaged stickers.
Day 64 - August 23 - Went to both the Muholland Drive and Muholland Highway (the Snake) before going to stay at my Aunt's place. Came in during dinner time.
Day 65 - August 24 - Did tech stuff during the day, and organized some of my videos and photos. Cousin took me out again to eat. Gain all the weight I lost in the last two month.
Day 66 - August 25 - Michele, Johnny and I rode out with the youtube bike guys to Palm Springs. Visited Chaparral Motorsports. Michele got me an Air BnB.
Day 67 - August 26 - Took a dip in a desert mountain swimming hole, then dinner with Amy and Michele. Then headed to Newport Beach to ride with Leroy
Day 68 - August 27 - Leroy took me surfing in Newport Beach, then I head back to Micheles in downtown art district. Went to have noodles and many drinks
Day 69 - August 28 - Met with Eric Liu in the morning for breakfast, visited Michele's work in the afternoon, then we went to the market, the last book store and roof top.
Day 70 - August 29 - Had lunch with Michele and then I left to visit my cousin in East Vale and then ate thai food with my Aunt in Yorba Linda.
Day 71 - August 30 - Took my uncle to the airport, then headed to San Diego after doing all my laundry. Made it to my other cousin's place late at night.
Day 72 - August 31 - Bought stuff at REI and hung out with my host. Went out to eat, and took it easy. Started to plan for the things that I need to do the next couple days.
